Sodroi Tuinaer
________________

Tonight was the night. She knew all the exits to the place, had memorized the prince's daily routines down to a fine point. Everything was in place and the information of all she had learned was passed on to her leaders. Under the guise of picking up things from the market in town, she had been able to slip the information to those within the group easily. Now... it was set and everything was in place.. Everything that was, except one thing.. Poisoning the prince. Nine years.. posing as a friend.. someone he could trust.. And she was to be the one to betray and hurt him. But, orders were orders.

She'd lift the satchel up, setting it on the little counter. A quick look around, and she'd produce a small vial of clear liquid. Another look around, she'd uncork it and start to pour it into his tea. It was odorless and tasteless. Only skilled alchemists and those that knew anything about poison would be able to discern what it was exactly she had used. It wouldn't kill him. No.. orders were not to kill.. She suspected her leaders.. her bosses, wanted that pleasure for themselves. Once it was done, the vial was set aside, and she'd give it a quick stir before she'd drop in his usual sugar cubes. The cup then moved to the little tray along with a small kettle and other fixings to make more. Just like she did every night. When she was ready, the young 'maid' would pick up the tray and leave the kitchen, heading for his room.

She'd find his door much the way she did every evening. Slightly jarred.. And she'd find him seated on a small bench, lined with leather and lightly stuffed to make it softer to sit on. Just like every night, he was playing a flute and watching the stars outside. Already clothed for bed. This was his nightly thing. Play the flute, star gaze, and before sleep - enjoy a cup of honey tea. Niviel would approach, soft footsteps carried the woman to him. When she got close enough, the tray would be set beside him and she'd step back. Much like very night.

Sodroi would stop playing, a soft smile given to the maid. In the years Niviel had worked for his family, he had come to view her as a dear friend. A best friend really. She was loyal from what he knew of her. Always seemed to have a witty joke when his uncle came to visit. He got along really well with her.

"You look tired tonight, Nivi. Are you feeling alright?"

His words came out softly as he laid the flute over his lap. Soft brown eyes stared intently at her. He did worry for her. The girl always seemed to push herself far too much. Niviel would smile and nod gently.

Niviel: I feel fine. Don't worry. It's just been a long day.

Almost as if reading his mind, before Sodroi even got the chance to speak, she'd once more offer a smile.

Niviel: I need to get the linen yet. I'll be back in a little while.

Sodroi would nod understandingly. He would have offered her some of his tea. He always kept a spare cup in his room. Sometimes he even had to pilfer one from the kitchens, but he always had one handy. Just in case anyone were to join him for tea. He'd watch her leave the room.. Or so he thought she had. He watched her go out the door.. The door pulled shut for the most part, back to where it had been - half cracked open. He couldn't see her anymore. He'd sigh softly, the flute moved to be left to rest on the tea tray. He wasn't entirely sleepy yet. Perhaps he'd play some more after a cup of tea. There was plenty to make another cup.

He'd pick up the cup, taking a small sip. The first sip wasn't too bad. His stomach sent a small wave of pain. He thought it was from the heat and not drinking much water earlier in the day. And so, a few more sips were taken, so certain that perhaps the tea would help.. Fourth sip, the cup fell from his hand, shattering to the floor and he'd slump to the side. He was awake.. barely. Everything became fuzzy and distorted. He could hear the door open, and the familiar footsteps of Niviel returning. He tried to ask for help, but he had no strength to do so.

Niviel: Rest well, Sodroi. You aren't going to die.. Not by hand at least. But you will sleep for awhile. I'm not sorry. I'm sure you want to know why.. You're an abomination. A mutt. We need a king to lead us that understands his people. Not someone that is only a half blood.

She'd lean in, kissing his cheek. A gentle.. farewell if you will. With that, she'd step away. It was then that Sodroi pieced it together.. The bitch had poisoned him. He'd manage to blink, trying to keep his eyes open and failing slowly but surely. It was as she opened the window that he noted the clothes she wore. No longer did she look like a maid. Black leather adorned her whole body. Head to toe. A mask over her lower face, covering her nose and mouth and resting just under her eyes..  He could only guess she must have moved it to cover her face after she kissed him.. And a dark red sash over the top of her head, held in place by silver pieces at her shoulders. A silver dagger at her hip..  He'd be out before she jumped.

Once on the ground, Niviel would duck off into the forest, giving the signal to those hidden in the shadows. She'd push her hood off, pulling down the mask as she watched others clothed just like her move off towards the palace.. Soon.. the raid began. Several through the front, killing and seriously wounding any who got in their way. And some scaled where they could.. She stayed till they reached the prince's room. Seeing movement from his window, she'd pull the hood and mask back into place.. And she was gone.

Three days passed since then.. Sodroi had spent the entirety of it, asleep. Just as he had been told he would. She hadn't given him the exact amount of days he'd sleep.. But she had told him he'd sleep.. It was a dreamless slumber. Darkness.. just so much darkness. His captors moved through the forest, heading towards the mountains. He'd begin to wake.. A soft groan escaping him as he'd start to try to move.. He was bound.. He could feel the ropes against his wrists.. But it was dark.. So dark.. He couldn't see a thing. He could feel something over his mouth as well. A muffled whimper escaped him as the ropes binding his wrists and arms gouged at him.

The one carrying him would stop, calling out to those he walked with. Sodroi could hear the others stopping.. And then, there was a sudden feeling of being moved and then the harshness of more or less being slammed on his rear, onto the leaf littered damp ground.

First Elf: Mutt's awake..

The sound of the voice was male.. Sodroi would cringe as he suddenly caught the stench of breath.. The man must of have kneeled at this point.. He could smell alcohol mainly.. It was an old, stale stench.. Something that must have been on the guy from a few days back. In the next instant, the blind fold was off.. And Sodroi could see hazy figures moving. His vision was blurry though. The effects of the poison still slowly wearing off. Though after a few minutes his vision would clear enough that he could make out what they were wearing.. It was a mixing of males and females that had kidnapped him from his home.. All dressed in the same black and red sash combination outfit.. Same type that Niviel had been wearing a few nights ago.. The gag however, it would remain in the prince's mouth. The older elf made no motion to even bother removing it.

Another elf that had begun to gather firewood, would pause. Her face hidden by the face-mask. She'd stand there, arm load of wood as she watched the older elf.

Female: Think we should remove his gag and let the freak eat?

First Elf: No. It'd be a bad idea. Chances are, he's still under the effects of the poison. Feeding him may make him sick. Best to let him suffer hunger pains for now.

The male would stand after that. Sodroi would blink a few times. The male didn't go far from the prince though. He stayed fairly close. Then again.. Sodroi's legs weren't bound.. Only his upper body was. The male that had been carrying him, hadn't seen a need to bind his legs. The prince had been out when they found him. It wouldn't have mattered at the time. And for the moment, he didn't seem to be thinking about binding the younger male's legs either. In fact, the older elf was more interested in eating a bit of bread that was just given to him by another elf. Sodroi tried to count the amount with him. But he found it difficult in the darkness of the forest. The fire hadn't been started yet... and some had split from the group to hunt and gather things needed to make camp.

Different Male: I still don't get why we're not allowed to kill him ourselves.

The male that spoke had just settled onto the ground a distance away. He was laying rocks out to form a fire ring. Although, Sodroi couldn't tell exactly where he was looking.. But he could make out the man moving rocks.  Hearing him though, Sodroi suddenly felt absolutely terrified. Kill him? He'd blink a few times.. His mind was sent reeling as he tried to figure out who these people were.. And more importantly, he began to try and scoot himself backwards. Although he didn't get far. His back met a tree.

First Male: Our orders are to deliver him alive. If he gives us trouble.. Well.. You know already what they said we could do. He's not giving us trouble right now though.. Poor bastard looks like he's scared shitless if anything. Lay a hand on him now, I'll kill you myself. I will not have the wrath of our Order come down on my head just because a piss-ant couldn't follow simple directions.

Order? Sodroi looked between the two males.. It was shortly after that, the fire was started up. To stay he was terrified was an understatement.. He wanted to go home.. And he wanted far away from these people. The problem was, he was seated on the ground.. And if he made motion to run... He'd swallow hard.. They'd.... He didn't want to think about it. Soft brown eyes swept around those he could see.. There was six in the area that he could see.. But there was still some missing.. He gathered that much from just listening... People hunting, and others gathering things to finish setting up their camping area.

Hours ticked by after that.. Sodroi sat listening for the majority of the night. Uncertain of what may or may not happen. In that time, unable to speak, his mind was left to wander.. Just thinking about Niviel.. and the way she had betrayed him. He had seen her as a dear friend.. Trusted her. And in the end, it came down to this. He wondered just how long this had been planned out. It clearly wasn't something hatched over night. This was well planned out, well thought about.. He'd shift uncomfortably as he watched the others. Some had lowered their face masks. Some had not. He would have frowned if he were able to.  Some of them, he recognized.. Three at least. Had seen them speak to his father on occasion. His father didn't care much for the three.. They were guards.. Or, well... Sodroi had thought they were.. No.. They weren't guards. They had to have posed as such... much the way Niviel had posed as a maid to get close to him.

He'd lower his head as he let his mind wander. His gaze locked for the moment on his shoe-less feet. He sat like this for a good hour.. Or maybe it was longer? He honestly couldn't tell.. Although after awhile, and him lifting his gaze, he'd discover that many were preparing to sleep. Two had moved closer to him.. Both were of the trio that had taken down their masks. The third had gone off to bed. The older elf from before would approach as well, with the two maskless elves.

First Elf: You two are on guard. You two take the first shift, after that, tag two others to take over half way through the night.

The two would lift their gazes, watching the older male. They'd exchange a few words and then there was silence as the older male walked off and lay down near the fire. Sodroi would look between the two that sat beside him.. One on either side of him. The two... let's call them.. Tevak and Enonos.. Tevak would look over to him, a cruel little grin touching his face.

Tevak: I heard the leaders of our Order, are going to turn you inside out, prince. I hope they make it a slow death. A mongrel like you.. You deserve what you get.

The word 'prince' was half spat at him.. Sodroi would go to speak, although he quickly remembered he couldn't. Right.. still gagged. He'd narrow his gaze at Tevak.. Watching him. That's when the other spoke... causing Sodroi to jump a bit, and turn his head to see him.

Enonos: Don't let it get to you... You earned this death. Next, we'll probably be sent to target your filthy mother. She has no right to lay claim to the title of queen. A human.. Your father has terrible taste in women, boy.

Listening to them... Sodroi was both enraged.. But at the same time, terrified. He was angry with the snide remarks made about his parents, about everything really.. But scared.. Because he knew what was waiting ahead for him. Death. Then there was the fear for his parents.. The one to his right.. The one that referred to him as 'boy', had mentioned possibly being sent later for his mother.. He'd swallow roughly, watching him.

Again, the hours slid by after that. The night wore on.. And at some point, Sodroi had dozed off after having lost himself in thought. Though now he was awake. He'd turn his gaze on Tevak and Enonos... Look right first.. Enonos was asleep.. He'd blink a few times, his gaze would drift to the other... Tevak was out as well.. He'd blink a few times.. Maybe now was his chance.. He'd start to squirm, trying to get up.. Though all squirming did was cause the ropes to gouge at his sides and wrists. He'd silently wince as he'd push himself up against the tree and try work his way up that way.. It didn't work.. He got so far, and he'd wake Tevak.

Tevak: Where do you think you're going, mongrel? Huh!?

Sodroi's next moments were filled with the vision of an up-close view of the leaf littered, damp ground. Tevak had grabbed him and slammed him forward. A soft whimper laced groan escaped the prince as he tried to get up.. Though a foot would be planted on the prince's back. Holding him there. Tevak would kneel, a hand coming up to shove Sodroi's face into the mud, a cold snicker leaving the other male.

Tevak: I've wanted to do that since the day I met you. Pompous little shit.

He'd stand and move back. Sodroi thought it was over.. That was till he felt a booted foot collide with his ribcage.  If he could have screamed, he would have.. All he could do was whimper in pain, silent tears forming under his eyes. Watching him however, Tevak would kneel once more, a gloved hand grabbing Sodroi by the hair and he'd drag him off into the forest. The others slept. Who was to say what had happened? Tevak would gladly lie if it meant getting what he wanted out of the prince. And that was to see the half-breed laying broken and bloodied before him.

Sodroi tried hard to stop him. Squirmed as much as he could. Though it didn't do him much good. The other had a good grip over the prince's now tangled curly/wavy hair. He'd get the prince so far away from the camp, before roughly jerking him to his feet.

Tevak: We're going for a walk, mongrel. There's a river up ahead.. Start moving.

Every fiber was screaming 'run'. But.. he couldn't. He did as told.. He walked where Tevak told him to. That was... till they reached the river. Tevak would grab Sodroi's hair once more and jerk him to a tree, shoving him against it. Once against it, Tevak would move to get a dagger free from his belt. Although he didn't get far.

Enonos had woken shortly after Tevak had begun to escort the prince into the forest.. And he had followed. When Tevak freed the dagger once at the river, Enonos would reveal his presence.. By knocking the dagger from his friend's hands.

Enonos: We're to keep this bastard alive! What the hell are you thinking!?

Tevak: He's a pathetic welp. We should be the ones to kill him! Why let the elders and leaders of The Order have all the fun!?

They began to argue after that. While they argued, Sodroi seized the chance and took off running. This would result in the pair arguing to stop and give chase.. And Sodroi to just do everything in his ability to try and keep out of their range. It wasn't easy. No way to grab and maneuver things in his way... All he could do was jump and run. That was it. He'd weave around trees and duck down against low branches. In time, he'd put a good bit of distance between himself and the others. Although it came at a price. He had become utterly lost. After a distance, Sodroi would trip and fall into an abandoned wolf burrow. It'd be here, that he'd spend the night.

River Mestra and Wardren

She stepped onto a riverbank as she reached a spot that she decided she wanted to stop at for the moment, simply because she saw a bush of blueberries that was growing from the ground a short distance from the meandering stream she had been traveling.  Big, juicy, ripe blueberries that were ever so tempting to the young woman.  It was one of her favorite foods after all!  And she couldn't get enough of them. Humming in delight, the half covered feet moved through the underbrush as she would wiggle her way through a sparse thicket to reach her prize. It wasn't terribly uncommon for her to do this, travel as she usually did until she found something that caught her interest and she would indulge herself until it was time to move on.

Reaching the bush that had caught her in it's sweet clutches she would grin even wider, eyes as blue as the purest, deep ocean studying it with a thoughtful look. Just how many blueberries should she eat? This bush looked like it had quite a bounty upon it so she could likely take a fair number without potentially starving any of the forests residents. And making the bush grow more berries belonged more to those who had other skills  than herself.  Reaching over, she plucked a small berry and popped it into her mouth with a skillful little flick, a pleasurable sigh following shortly after as it's sweet juicy flavor flowed over her tongue.

"Oh yeah, this is one yummy bush of berries," She murmured to herself, her voice one that could remind others of the playful cadence of a spring rain.  Plucking another berry between her finger tips she brought it up in order to eat it as well, before suddenly a small blue blur snatched it right out of her grasp! Blinking a little, she would shake her head and laugh however, as she pushed her long soft blue hair back. It fell like a waterfall down her shoulders and to her mid back. And behind this silky waterfall hid the blueberry thief culprit.  "Wardren, you silly droplet, you know I will happily share anything I find with you." Playfully chastising a small blue dragon that sat curled over her shoulders, and that had been mostly obscured by her hair.  The dragon chittered in laughter.

"Of course, River," the soft spoken creature replied, the fin like ears wiggling ever so slightly as she lifted her head to look into her eyes, "But it's just so much fun snagging things here and there." Another chitter of amusement left Wardren.

"Don't tell me you're turning into a magpie!" River gasped in mock horror at her Companion's words, placing a hand over her mouth.  Wardren giggled again at that as she shook her head.

"You wouldn't want that, would you?" The dragon smirked toothily, causing River to laugh. The sound was like cool water tumbling over the small stones of a brook.

"Well, no," Came the reply as she grabbed another blueberry and held it out for Wardren to take, "I am more than happy with you as the way you are." A beautiful smile over came her lips as she spoke, Wardren taking the blueberry to eat herself.  "Anyways, let's gather up some of these and be on our way. Still so much to see!" Wardren nodded and stood up on her Companion's shoulder, jumping onto a tree that dangled directly over the berry bush. From there River proceeded to take as many blueberries as was polite to take, storing them in her blueberry only bag, along with her Companion's friends.

After filling up the bag, River reattached it to her things and stretched out her arms, "Ready to go?" She asked the cute draconic companion she had, who nodded assent before they would make their way back through the bushes.  Upon reaching the large stream once again, River looked up the river and then down before she dipped a bare toe into the cold water and listened to what she could hear.

"Sounds like the river widens over there, we might be able to come across a town by following it!" Excited at her exlamation, Wardren chuckled softly as she buried her face once again into River's hair. "Let's go!"  Chuckling herself, she would concentrate for a moment, causing the already blue eyes to glow bright for a second, as a blue shimmer passed over her feet.  And stepping forward, her foot over the water... it came down upon the surface and did not go through.  Experienced with her favorite mode of transport, she fully stood on the water, and allowed the current to carry her along it's speed.

Just nibbling on her blueberries as she went along, slowly savoring them, some time would pass as it usually did. Enjoying the singing of the birds, as her pointed ears twitched in delight, the Nature Elf was definitely not expecting it when her Companion darted off of her shoulders and onto shore, sprinting down a path. "Wardren?!" River called out in surprise before she jumped onto the river bank herself and ran after the littler one. "What's going on? Where did you go?" She was concerned, as it was unlike Wardren to just take off like that. "Wardren?" She called again, the sweet flowing voice echoing through the trees.

Following the direction that the small Companion took, River kept her eyes open and alert, searching for any sign of the scaly scamp.  However, she was brought up short as she heard the distinct chirp that belonged to Wardren. Grinning in relief she broke out into a jog and headed straight for a wolf's burrow.

"River! There's an injured person in here!" Wardren's head had popped out of the burrow as River approached, the little blue eyes wide with worry and not realizing what she had just done.

"No worries, I'll take a look and see what we can do," Sticking her head inside, she let  her eyes adjust as she looked around before her eyebrows would go upwards in surprise. "Well, indeed there is!" She murmured before sighing softly and wriggling her way a little further in, but not enough to get stuck, causing small clumps of dirt to fall.

"Hello there," River called out to the male figure laying there. Perhaps sleeping or perhaps knocked unconscious. Reaching over, she would gently poke him. "Are you alright? You look like you're in a lot of trouble here..."

Sodroi Tuinaer
________________

The riverbank just a bit from where the path began was littered with semi fresh footprints. These were hurried and a few even looked as if the person that made them had slipped here and there.. On a branch not far from the wolf's burrow, a piece of tattered blue cloth hung. A part of his shirt having snagged when he had fled and torn off.

Further away however, there was broken low branches and more hurried footsteps. Some matched the ones mentioned above, the other set of prints belonged to a pair of two people.. Sure-footed.. But just as hurried as the first set mentioned. Though the sure-footed pair, their foot prints only went so far.. It was the one that had slid and slipped here and there that had continued on. The very same that went up to the burrow..

The burrow itself had several large chunks of earth that were missing. Punched out when he had slid in the mud and fell through the entrance. A few feet into the burrow, rope was caught on a root. The bit of rope was also still very much connected to the unconscious prince. Thin scratches were all over his cheeks from the initial fall. He wasn't really hurt, just scratched and bruised.

It was after Wardren had poked her head up to alert River, that Roi would begin to come to.. Everything was so blurry.. Oh.. And his head.. It throbbed dully across his temples. Was this a dream? ... Or was he.. was he dead?  Everything sounded far away at first. Then the scent of the wolf's burrow hit him.. Not a dream.. and not dead.. He was sore, but alive. His eyes closed again as he tried to make sense of things. He'd almost pass back out.. Almost...

That's when a finger poked him. A startled jolt, and his eyes were open. No definitely not a dream then.. He'd start to struggle against the bindings that still held him. Fear flashed into his eyes as he watched her.. The first thought that raced into his mind was it she was one of them.. But the thought didn't stay too long.. No.. She seemed more gentle than those that had taken him from his home days ago. The fear faded a bit, but he was watching them now with caution.

He'd try to sit up, it took a bit more effort than he would have thought.. then he quickly found himself jerked and his back hit the dirt floor. The rope that still bound him, where it had been snagged, had made it so he couldn't really move. The gag still in place, he couldn't even speak.. He'd just give a soft nod to say that he was alright. The only thing the lad wore was blue silk pajama bottoms and a matching short sleeved top. His curly/wavy hair was tangled and had leaves stuck in it from running in the forest and then tumbling into the burrow. His clothes and skin were dirty, smeared with dirt from the fall.

In a lot of trouble... That put it lightly.. If he'd nod in agreement though. Again, try to sit up, and again the shortened rope just yanked him back as if he were on a leash.

As River studied the unconscious male, she noted his quite messy appearance. He certainly looked like he'd had a rough night in the very least. Pursing her lips thoughtfully, she couldn't help but wonder what trouble he was in. Which is of course why she had poked him, in order to find out if he was ok and to get answers to her ponderings.

Once he jolted awake, she looked at him closely, her face nearly close enough to touch, nose to nose. He was clearly frightened at first, but she smiled in a friendly manner to him, hoping it would alieve some of his concern. She was certainly not there to cause him harm.  Pleased when it faded, she would back up when he started trying to sit up.  Blinking at him being jerked back, she tilted her head before figuring why his arms were as they were.

"Ah I see," She murmured as she looked around the tight underground quarters before clicking her tongue against the roof of her mouth as he tried to move and jerked himself back again, "Stop that, you're obviously caught on something. Allow me to help you alright?" River chuckled softly, moving a slender hand to tug down on the gag that covered his mouth, in order to free him to speak. "Oh, Wardren, how about you scootch behind him and get him unstuck?" The idea popped into her head, as the deep blues moved to her Companion and she made her suggestion.

"I'll see if I can!" The small water dragon chirped in the common language before folding herself inwards tightly and wiggling her way in behind the boy. "I think I can!" And with that, he would likely feel the ropes moving slightly, as Wardren snagged one with a claw and started chewing through it. Before too long, she would get through the binding, allowing the ropes to fall from his wrists and popped back out to head back to River. "Done!"

"Thanks Wardie," She chuckled and used a finger to scritch under the dark sapphire scaly skin. "Give it a try now to see if you can start moving ok? River moved out of the way so that he would have the room to try and move out of the burrow.

He was in all kinds of trouble. The people that were responsible for his bindings and kidnapping, and the poisoning.. They lucky didn't give up. No, chances were they'd continue their search for him. Though if their ability to keep him with them spoke of anything, they were likely also a long ways off yet. Probably dumbly looking around up the river somewhere near where Tevak had tried to kill him.

He'd go cross eyed as their noses nearly touched, trying to watch her. Okay.. So not easy. He'd give his head a little shake as if to right his eyes after she had pulled back. The gag was removed.. He had never been so thankful in his entire life to be able to properly close his mouth. Welts rested along his cheeks where the gag had once gouged into him. Those that had taken him had been sure to bind him down to ensure he'd not be able to work out of the ropes or bindings himself. Needless to say, some of the bindings were a bit too tight.

"Thank you.. I thought.. I was a goner.."

For the moment, his mind left the things he had seen the night before, and the from the things that had lead up to last night. Just relieved to be alive, and even more so, to the fact that he was found. A realization had hit him at that moment.. If not for this kind woman and her companion, he likely would have never been found. It was a realization that he'd rapidly push out of his mind. Not wishing to even think about such a dark idea.

The ropes started to give, and that really pulled him from his mind. He'd bring his hands to his chest, rubbing at his right wrist. A soft nod was given and he'd do as told. This time he'd manage to sit up more properly.. Well as best as he could in such cramped conditions.

"The lunatics from last night.. are they still there... O-outside I mean.."

River couldn't help but to give a soft gasp as she saw the welts that lined his cheeks near his mouth where the gag had pressed hard into his skin. What kind of monsters would do this kind of thing to someone? Frowning as she saw it, she would shake her  head a little in disappointment.

"You're welcome," She replied, shifting in order to allow him to climb out when he was ready to do so. Once the ropes were loose enough for him to be able to get out of them, and he was rubbing his wrist, Wardren would slip out of the burrow in order to give them more room. River started to move outside as well, wanting to let him to be able to get out when he was ready. But at his question, she blinked rapidly, "I didn't see anyone when Wardren and I found you.  Wardie, is there anyone out there?" River answered him before she looked to the entrance in order to speak to her Bond Companion.

"Nope, there's no one nearby," The little dragon chirped back in answer as she stuck her head back into the burrow to answer before popping back out.

"There you go," River smiled softly to the blonde male, flicking her ears a little bit as she began moving out again, "Come on out and tell me what happened to you!" She invited him to do so, wondering what kind of lunatics that he was talking about.  As she got out of the burrow, she would stand up and brush dirt off of herself before peering down to see if he was following her out, the bright blue hair falling forward slightly to frame her face.  She would extend her hand to him even.

There was relief in his eyes when he heard that no one was out there. Just the two of them. That meant the people responsible may be quite a ways off then. Or... with luck... maybe they had gone.. Maybe.. But that was always a shot in the dark.. Maybe never guarenteed they were truly gone. And somehow, he had a feeling they were likely looking for him.

He'd hestitate at first when told to come out. Though it didn't last and he'd scoot to the entrance and start to climb out.  Gently taking her hand. A few times, slipping here and there trying to get his footing. But once out, a small smile tugged the corners of his lips. It was nice to be out of that burrow.. He was free.. Freedom had never felt so good before.

Lightly elven tipped ears peeked through the mess of hair. Part of him wanted to sit in the grass and enjoy the warm sunlight.. Although.. he was also leery of doing so.. Worried that they could be discovered at any moment. Probably a silly thing to worry about.. But it was still a worry that he couldn't shake.

"Again, thank you. The one guy last night.. He wanted to kill me."

She wanted to know what had happened to him and how he got in that situation though.. Starting right at where someome tried to kill him probably wasn't helpful. He'd pluck a few twigs and leaves from his hair.

"I am Sodroi. I am from a place called Dalaran. I'm the prince of that land. I was poisoned by someone I thought I could trust.. She had served my family since I was ten. She was my chamber maid. She was my friend.. Or.. at least I thought she was. She poisoned me.. But I don't know how long ago. I don't even know how many days or weeks I've been away from home.."

He'd settle into the grass after that.. Though his gaze was all over the place.. Keeping watch for any signs of movement in the grass.

"...Said I wouldn't die, not by her hand. Said I was an abomination because of my mixed blood. Kissed my cheek and was gone.. I woke up in the forest, with a group of men and women.. All dressed the same.. Black armor and red sashes on their heads, with face masks. The same armor that my... er... once friend had worn when she left my room. I heard mention of something called the 'The Order'.. Though it's the first time I've heard of the group.. That was last night.. None of them would tell me how long I had been with them. Not that I could ask them. They.. made mention of targeting the rest of my family next.. Two of them I recognized as palace guards."

Some part of him wished that all of last night and the days prior had been nothing more than a dream. And that he had sleep walked into the forest. But there was a problem with that..He didn't sleep walk. And where the ropes had been, had left welts mixed with the impressions of the rope texture into his skin. It'd fade with time.. But it was a reminder that last night was real. Which meant everything else was as well.

The prince had truly gotten lucky at the person that had found them. River was certainly not the type to ever turn over someone that was trying to be killed by a mysterious group, and was more likely to defend them.  As he took her hand and allowed her to help him out of the hold, she chuckled a little at his slipping but it was in good nature.  Pushing her hair back from her face once he was fully free from the burrow, she would tilt her head curiously as she stuided him and also listened to him as he spoke about the ordeal that he had been through.  Her eyes widen at his tale of betrayal, poison, kidnapping, attempted murder and racism. River crossed her arms as she narrowed her eyes and clicked her tongue, shaking her head in disapproval.

"That's horrible!" She exclaimed, letting her arms drop as she began to gesture along with her words, obviously an active speaker, "Wanting to kill you because you're mixed blood?!  What kind of world do we live in? It's not like you asked to be born, or had any choice to be born as you were!"  River started to pace in front of him out of frustration.  Wardren chirruped at her Bond Companion and climbed up the elven woman before curling up atop her head in an attempt to try and comfort her. Stopping she looked up at the tiny dragon on her head and sighed heavily. "Ah, yes, sorry Sodroi, that sort of injustice just gets my hackles up.  I'm River Mestra, it's a pleasure to meet you."  Throughout her voice continued to contain the soft tones of a flowing river, soothing and watery.

"We certainly should try to make sure that your family won't be hurt either though," She stroked her chin thoughtfully, automatically on top of things. River wasn't known to be one who sat back often. She relaxed and sat back on her travels in general, but when it came to things like this she seemed to seep in and keep going. "Dalaran... Dalaran... I don't think I've heard of the place you come from.  Which direction is that in?"  River queried as she stopped moving and turned a deep blue eye to Sodroi, innocently questioning.

Aye, indeed he had been lucky. He was lucky to have been found at all. There was always the chance that the burrow would have been passed over entirely.. Which meant he could have died down there eventually. It would have been a slow thing..But it was still something that could have happened. Then.. there was also the chance that the people.. The Order.. as they called themselves, could have found him.. To be honest, to say that he was highly grateful to River and her companion, would be an understatement. They saved his hide in more than one way.

Soft brown eyes would move from the bushes, to look up at River as she began to pace and speak, watching her hands as she moved them about while speaking. He was upset, but he was one of those types that just kind of absorbed it and let it sink in. On the outside, he was calm, inside.. He was scared, he was worried, and uncertain of the forest. He was calm, but alert and ever watchful.

"My parents love each other deeply.. It's why me and my sister are in the world. I don't know who this.. Order is.. but.. I know they don't sound good. They.. the people that took me... they wanted to give me to their leaders.. Said their leaders would kill me when they were ready to do so. Before the maid left after I was poisoned, she said that the kingdom needed a king to lead that understands his people, not someone that is a half blood."

Blond hair would fall over his dirt smeared face. For the moment, he just sat there, thinking about all that had happened. There was a lot that had happened. A lot of it, he had no memory of. The poison had done a few things to him. Of those was keep him mostly out of it, made him sleep during the travels.

Hearing her, he'd nod softly in understanding. A hand came up, pushing the hair from his face before plucking another twig out and laying it gently beside himself.

" It's alright.. I feel the same, honestly. These were people my family had known since I was a child. Then they prove to be traitors all these years later."

He'd smile softly hearing her name. A pretty name. It suited her.

"It's nice to meet you too."

He'd look around once more, having heard something in the bushes.. Though he'd relax a bit seeing a squirrel topple out of the bush before darting back inside.

"They made camp last night.. I was blindfolded until they made camp. The one that carried me more or less dropped me on the ground before removing the blindfold. He seemed to be the one leading the group. Everyone was obeying him. I sat up listening to things they said to one another and eventually was watching them when my vision cleared. I dozed off at one point.. When I woke again, everyone was asleep. I thought I could get away.. So I worked up a tree, using it for balance.. But I wasn't quiet enough I guess. I woke the one with a mowhawk.. Tevak..

There was a hint of faint bitterness when he said Tevak's name. Even before the incident, Sodroi had never cared for Tevak.. Had always said there was something just not right about him. The guy reminded him of a loose canon. Hot headed and tempermental. More than once he had seen Tevak snap at the palace staff.

"..He forced me down, pushed my face into mud. He held me there by putting his foot on my back and pressing me down. At one point, kicked my ribcage.. After that, he dragged me into the forest, away from the camp, by the hair. When we got so far away, he jerked me to my feet and shoved me forward. Told me to walk. When we got to the river, he grabbed my hair again.. I thought he was going to drown me. Instead he slammed me into a tree and pulled a dagger.."

He'd shudder a bit at the memory. The glint of the steel just inches from his face was still clear in his mind. It was something he didn't like thinking about, but the memory was still there. He'd shake his head as if trying to shoo it away.

"I think.. he would have killed me. But another of the group.. the other 'palace guard' came from nowhere and knocked the dagger out of his hands. They started to argue. When their arguement had them distracted enough, I ran. They gave chase. I don't know how far they followed me. Eventually I got so far out and then tripped and ended up in the burrow."

He fell silent after that. He'd quietly listen to her before nodding in agreement. Yes, if there was one thing he wanted to be sure of it.. It was that his family was safe. Unfortantely, he also did not know about the attack on the palace on the night that he was taken from there. He was unconcious through the entire attack on his home. People had been seriously wounded, others weren't so lucky and were killed. Quite a few palace staff actually met death when they tried to stop the invading Order.

"I just hope they're alright.. I have no idea what may or may not have happened after I was poisoned. I just know I woke up with those people."

He'd pull his knees to his chest, thinking. There was a lot to think about though wasn't there? So much had happened. The Order.. He wondered if his father had even known about such a group. It seemed almost unlikely. He'd look back up to her though when asked about his homeland.. Confusion took his face.

"I'm.. not sure. I don't even know where I am. I know Dalaran is in the northern mountains in the Hinterland Forest. It's a large elven kingdom."

The forest he knew, was a thick pine forest. Nestled into a mountain valley-esk type area. Only way up to it was through the old horse and carriage trails.

"It's certainly a good thing that they love each other so much, but unfortuantely that's not enough for some people, especially with those that somehow think that being a pure breed is what matters," River sighed heavily and shook her head, hating how people could be. Especially such stupid cults or such. "It's not the purity of blood that matters for a ruler."

Noting the dirt that was smeared on his face and the like, she blinked lightly as a small smile crossed her lips. She could help with that. Lifting up her hand, she turned the palm upwards as her blue eyes glowed even more blue as she concentrated and water gathered into a ball floating above her hand. From there, some of the water floated towards Sodroi's face and cleaned up the dirt. She nodded in understanding about the fact that he had been betrayed by people he had nodded for so long, and smiled at him saying it was nice to meet her too.

She listened to him describe the ordeal that he had been through, a hand coming up to her lips as she covered her mouth and gasped to hear what this Tevak had done. What a cruel and vicious person, she couldn't understand what ever would motivate someone to do such things just because someone wasn't the 'right' breed.  It was ridiculous to act so terrible.

"I'll help you find out if your family is alright or not," River assured him. It wasn't like that she had any other plans after all or things that she was supposed to be doing.  At least currently, as it wasn't often she did much more than travel and see the world, experiencing all that she could. But when it came to something like this, she wasn't going to sit back idly and allow something terrible happen to others.

"Sorry, I have no idea where the Hinterland Forest is either. Even if I've traveled through it, I don't often stop in civilization to find out names and the like," River shrugged lightly giving him an apologetic smile before she looked around the forest. "Any idea on how to figure out if you recognize the area maybe?" She suggested as she lifted her hand to gently scritch at the small blue dragon that sat around her shoulders now.
